Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake to Host Career Fair

BALTIMORE, May 2, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake announced today it will host a job fair at its headquarters in Baltimore on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 as part of its Goodwill Industries Week celebration.

Every year during the first full week of May, Goodwill agencies across the United States and Canada celebrate the power of work through local events and promotions. As part of its mission of providing job training and placement services, Goodwill is hosting the career fair to help local residents find employment.

DIA Academic Semester Internship Program (ASIP) – Applications sought by Jan 31, 2013

DIA’s Academic Semester Internship Program (ASIP) provides promising undergraduate seniors and graduate students enrolled as full-time degree-seeking students at U.S. accredited universities and colleges, located within commutable distances to DIA locations, the opportunity to gain practical work experience in intelligence analysis while enrolled in classes.

When to apply: Applications accepted 15 September 2012 – 31 January 2013

The Agency offers a limited number of paid academic semester internships. Interns can be appointed for two semesters (depending on the university calendar) normally beginning in September. Students may be extended for a second semester, and are employed as part-time temporary employees (working between 16 and 20 hours per week).

Eligibility requirements are the same, regardless of pay status. All interns must be granted a security clearance and successfully pass a drug screening test prior to being made a final offer.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at universities and colleges located near/in the following localities only:

    • biology
    • microbiology
    • pharmacology
    • toxicology
    • engineering
    • intelligence analysis related courses
  • Completion of 60 semester hours or its equivalent at the time of participation in the program.
  • A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent at the time of application.
  • U.S. citizenship of applicant. Security clearances are not granted to holders of dual citizenship. All students conditionally accepted for internships and all DIA employees are subject to initial and a periodic counterintelligence (CI)-scope polygraph tests, and drug tests.
  • Please note that the security clearance processing and drug screening test can not be conducted while the applicant is overseas.

COMPENSATION

Lockheed Martin Reaches New Contract With UAW Union In Orlando, Denver And Baltimore

ORLANDO, FL  ~ The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) ratified a new master labor agreement with Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] covering approximately 650 workers at three sites. The new five-year agreement, ratified over the weekend, becomes effective immediately.

The bargaining unit represents workers at Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company in Denver, Lockheed Martin Mission Systems & Sensors in Baltimore and Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Orlando.

The company and union negotiated a new agreement that provides competitive wages over the next five years through a combination of a $2,000 ratification bonus, three general wage increases, two lump sum payments and cost of living adjustments, while enhancing member job security.

At a time of unprecedented healthcare inflation and elimination of medical plans, the agreement retains the one medical plan most utilized by the represented employees. In addition to this plan, Lockheed Martin’s HealthWorks plan will be offered.

The company also increased the pension rate to $72 per month per year of credited service for eligible employees, and made enhancements to the employees’ savings plan. With the combination of the pension and Performance Sharing Plan 401(k), this provides employees and their families with powerful resources to plan for a secure financial future.
